This feels like a Sankranti festival where sons-in-law, daughters, sons, and daughters-in-law return home. The college, established in 1984, has continuously evolved, and the credit goes to students like you. We now have hostels, rifle shooting, a tennis court, an indoor stadium, and thanks to Mr. Hemanth Reddy’s efforts, our students have secured 2nd and 3rd places in South Zone shuttle tournaments. One of our students was even selected to represent Rayalaseema University in international tournaments. During NAAC inspections, the college received an A Grade three times in a row, which is a matter of pride. These achievements are not solely because of us but because of the support of alumni like you. You are all like my children. I don’t expect anything material from you. However, I request that you contribute by conducting online or live sessions for current students regarding employment opportunities. Let’s not just think about ourselves, but about the collective growth of others. I sincerely hope you all reach even greater heights and help build our nation.”

Director Mr. G. Hemanth Reddy said: “You all have more experience than I do, and many of you were part of this college before me. So you know it even better than I do. It is truly heartwarming to see you all reunited after 21 years. College days bring back many cherished memories and life lessons. This institution has now completed 42 years, and in just 8 more years, we’ll celebrate the Golden Jubilee. I invite all of you to join that celebration as well. I wish you continued growth and success in life.”

Former faculty member Ms. Krishnapriya shared: “Seeing you all here today fills my heart with joy. I sincerely thank all the students who remembered and invited me—especially Sajiya. In life, we all owe something to a few people, and Prof. Ramakrishna Reddy is one such person. He has always worked tirelessly for the betterment of students. To be honest, it used to be hard to manage you in class, but today seeing your discipline and the successful positions you’ve achieved makes me immensely proud. I wish you more success and happiness in your lives.”

Mr. Venkata Rao reflected: “Meeting you all after 21 years and revisiting old memories brings me immense happiness. I joined here as a Computer Science Lecturer in 1997 and have seen so many students go on to achieve great things. Just as you learned many things from us, we too learned many things from you. I wish you continued success in life.”

Mr. Janardhan Reddy expressed: “It’s a great pleasure to meet you all here today. This day is special—it’s Krishna Janmashtami, our Chairman Sir’s birthday, and just yesterday, we celebrated Independence Day by hoisting the national flag with Mr. Hemanth Reddy, which is a proud moment. If we want to learn discipline, we should look at our Chairman Sir. He constantly motivates students. I wish you all achieve even greater things in life.”

All the alumni who attended the event were warmly felicitated by the college management.

In celebration of Sri Krishna Janmashtami, a “Uriyadi” (pot-breaking) event was organized, where Chairman Ramakrishna Reddy himself participated, adding joy to his birthday celebrations.

Hepatitis awareness on HBV & HCV 31st July

On Thursday, Sri Ramakrishna Degree College, Nandyal, organized a special program to observe World Hepatitis Day. The event was graced by Dr. K. Srinivasa Rao, M.D., Department of Clinical Microbiology, Government Medical College & Government General Hospital, Nandyal, along with Dr. Shanthi, College Director Mr. G. Hemanth Reddy, faculty members, and students.

The primary objective of this event was to raise awareness among students about Hepatitis. Dr. K. Srinivasa Rao delivered an informative session and sensitized the students about various aspects of hepatitis.

In his address, Dr. K. Srinivasa Rao stated: “Our main goal is to make you aware of hepatitis. If you gain proper awareness, you can protect not only yourselves but also your families and many others from falling victim to this disease. Lack of awareness is the main cause behind the spread of hepatitis.” He explained the two main types of hepatitis – Hepatitis B (HBV) and Hepatitis C (HCV) – and how their status (positive/negative) is determined through blood tests. He emphasized that vaccines are available to prevent the disease and that early intervention is key.

He further added:  “Our team provides treatment and support at all times. In 2024, the prevalence rate in Nandyal was HBV: 1.90% and HCV: 0.17%, which is higher than the state average. The main reason for this is lack of public awareness. Some people panic upon testing positive, but there is no need to worry – treatment is available. For those who test negative, vaccination is important to prevent future infections. Dr. Srinivasa Rao also informed that free testing facilities for hepatitis are available at their center. These programs are supported under the National Viral Hepatitis Control Program (NVHCP). He shared a concerning statistic: “Across the country, out of 38,762 liver cancer patients caused by hepatitis, only 750 have recovered. The primary reason for this poor recovery rate is lack of timely awareness and treatment. This awareness campaign is a small step toward preventing such unfortunate outcomes.” Students interacted with Dr. K. Srinivas  Rao and clarified their doubts, gaining a better understanding of hepatitis.

College Director Mr. G. Hemanth Reddy expressed his gratitude to Dr. K. Srinivasa Rao for educating the students and stated:  “The main purpose of this awareness program is to ensure that each student is informed. If one student is aware, they can educate their family and community, thereby preventing the spread of hepatitis. Everyone should know about this disease and take the vaccine as a preventive measure.”

The event concluded with the singing of the national anthem.
