“Holding the National Flag is a Symbol of Unity” — Nandyal District Additional SP (Admin) Sri Yugandhar Babu

On 22nd July 2025, National Flag Day was celebrated grandly at Sri Ramakrishna Autonomous Degree College, Nandyal. The event was graced by Chief Guests, Sri Yugandhar Babu, Additional SP (Admin) of Nandyal District, and Sri Mallikarjuna Gupta, Nandyal District Traffic CI. Addressing the students, Sri Yugandhar Babu emphasized that holding the national flag symbolizes the unity of India, and every citizen should feel proud of it. He advised the youth to remain focused on their growth without falling prey to distractions. He mentioned that discipline is the key—if followed sincerely, the need for police intervention would reduce. He explained that this day marks the official adoption of the Indian national flag. He stated that a torn or damaged flag should only be respectfully disposed of by burning, not thrown away or placed in dustbins. He encouraged everyone to honor the national flag, and added that elders speak proudly of its significance. He urged students to respect parents, teachers, and the nation, and to carry a strong sense of patriotism and social responsibility.

College Chairman, Prof. G. Ramakrishna Reddy, emphasized the importance of National Flag Day and reminded everyone not to neglect the dignity of the flag. He highlighted that beyond caste and religion, we are all one under the flag and must strive for a better future together. Referring to Israel, where every citizen is seen as a soldier, he encouraged the Indian youth to adopt a similar spirit. He noted that India has the largest youth population and stressed that every citizen should be prepared to serve the country. Unfortunately, due to divisions by caste and religion, we fail to unite with that spirit. He advised NCC cadets to understand the significance of the national flag and aim to join the armed forces, contributing meaningfully to the country. He warned students not to waste their valuable time on mobile phones, and instead, use their youth productively for the nation.

College Director, Mr. Hemanth Reddy, remarked that July 22 is the day the Indian national flag was officially adopted. He proudly announced that the college’s NCC cadets and students held a 100-meter-long national flag and participated in a rally. He urged the youth to move forward with patriotic spirit and a positive outlook toward the nation.

Traffic CI, Sri Mallikarjuna Gupta, stated that the national flag is not just a piece of cloth with colors, but a representation of sacrifice, unity, and the spirit of independence. He urged everyone to salute it with pride and respect. College Principal, Mr. Subbaiah, highlighted the importance of knowing the history behind each day. He reminded students that freedom fighters and social reformers made great sacrifices for us to have this flag today. The college management honored both Chief Guests—Sri Yugandhar Babu and Sri Mallikarjuna Gupta—with shawls and mementos in appreciation of their presence.

Following the event, the NCC cadets and students carried the national flag in a spirited rally across Nandyal town, from Srinivasa Centre to Sanjeev Nagar Gate, chanting patriotic slogans and displaying great enthusiasm and unity. The rally was actively led by Sri Yugandhar Babu, Prof. Ramakrishna Reddy, CI Mallikarjuna Gupta, Principal Subbaiah, and Director Hemanth Reddy. Faculty members including Dr. Kumar, Dr. Lalitha Saraswati, Sreekanth, Sampath, Muralidhar, Lakshmi Durga, Kamal Khan, Inthiyaz, and Jaffer, along with PG and degree students, took part in the event. The program concluded with the National Anthem.
