The Jayanti celebrations of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj were held with great grandeur on Thursday at Sri Ramakrishna Degree College, Nandyal. College Principal K.V.V. Subbaiah attended the program as the chief guest. A large number of faculty members and students participated in the event.

The program began with the dignitaries paying floral tributes to the portrait of Shivaji Maharaj. Later, students delivered speeches highlighting the life and achievements of Shivaji Maharaj.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal K.V.V. Subbaiah praised Shivaji Maharaj, who established the Maratha Empire in the 17th century, as a remarkable administrator. He mentioned that Shivaji Maharaj was crowned as Chhatrapati at Raigad in 1674 and that he had great respect for women. He called upon the younger generation to take inspiration from his courage and determination.

M. Inthiyaz Ahmed explained that Shivaji Maharaj aspired for self-rule (Swarajya). He recalled that Shivaji introduced the Ashtapradhan system (a council of eight ministers) for effective governance. He also noted that Shivaji Maharaj’s efforts for religious harmony and the protection of women’s rights are unforgettable.

Sravani Kumari stated that the great personality of Shivaji Maharaj was shaped by the upbringing of his mother Jijabai, whose values and guidance helped mold him into a great leader. She encouraged students to follow his ideals and strive to achieve great heights. She also mentioned that Shivaji Maharaj passed away at Raigad Fort in 1680, but his glory and legacy remain immortal.
