National Girl Child Day Celebrated at Sri Ramakrishna Degree College, Nandyal

National Girl Child Day was observed on Saturday at Sri Ramakrishna Degree College, Nandyal. The programme was attended by Mr. D. Amman Raja, District Judge, Nandyal, as the chief guest. Prof. G. Ramakrishna Reddy, Chairman of the College, and Ms. A. S. Pragathi, Dean of Student Affairs, were also present.

The programme began with the welcome of the dignitaries, followed by prayers and speeches by students. Faculty members addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of girl child education and the need to prevent child marriages.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Ratna Reddy and Ms. A. S. Pragathi emphasized that girls play a key role in shaping the nation’s future and encouraged students to be confident, educated, and socially responsible. They stressed that child marriage is a punishable offence and urged students to create awareness in society.

Prof. G. Ramakrishna Reddy spoke about the social causes and consequences of child marriage and advised students to focus on education and contribute positively to society.

Chief guest Mr. D. Amman Raja stated that education is a powerful tool and highlighted the importance of discipline, awareness of rights and duties, and guidance from parents and teachers. He appreciated the efforts of the college in organizing awareness programmes on social issues.

The programme concluded with the felicitation of the chief guest and the singing of the National Anthem. Faculty members and students actively participated, making the event a grand success.
