On the occasion of World Environment Day, Sri Ramakrishna Degree College (Autonomous), Nandyal, organized a grand tree plantation programme on Friday. The event was conducted under the aegis of the NSS and NCC units of the college. As part of the programme, several saplings were planted across the college campus to promote environmental conservation and create awareness about the importance of protecting nature.

The programme was attended by the Chairman, Prof. Dr. G. Ramakrishna Reddy, Director, Dr. G. Hemanth Reddy, Principal, Dr. K.B.V. Subbaiah, and Dean of Academics, Ms. Pragathi Reddy, who actively participated in the plantation drive by planting saplings.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Prof. Dr. G. Ramakrishna Reddy emphasized that protecting the environment is the responsibility of every individual. He stated that to ensure a clean and healthy environment for future generations, everyone should plant at least one tree and take responsibility for its care. He also highlighted the urgent need to increase green cover in view of rising pollution and climate change.

Dean of Academics, Ms. Pragathi Reddy, created awareness among the students about the importance of environmental conservation and encouraged them to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives.

Director Dr. G. Hemanth Reddy urged students to become active participants in protecting nature and to take part enthusiastically in environmental conservation initiatives.

Principal Dr. K.B.V. Subbaiah said that the youth have a crucial role to play in safeguarding the environment. He appreciated the students for recognizing their social responsibility alongside academics and actively participating in environmentally friendly activities. He encouraged every student to plant saplings and take responsibility for nurturing them.

The programme was attended by NSS Programme Officer Mr. T. Madhava Reddy, NSS Programme Officer Mrs. M. Sravani Kumari, NCC Coordinator Ms. Durga, faculty members, and a large number of NSS and NCC volunteers.

At the conclusion of the programme, the students took a pledge to remain committed to environmental conservation and to contribute actively towards building a greener and cleaner future.
