World Youth Skills Day
Youth Employment Depends on Creativity and Skills
On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, an awareness seminar was organized for degree students at Sri Ramakrishna Autonomous Degree College under the auspices of various departments of the college.
The programme was presided over by the Chairman of the College, Dr. G. Ramakrishna Reddy. The chief guests were Mr. V. Srikanth Reddy, District Skill Development Officer, and Mr. P. Somasiva Reddy, District Employment and Skill Development Officer.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. V. Srikanth Reddy explained the importance of developing skills required for employment, self-employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship. He emphasized that today’s youth should enhance their technological, vocational, and educational skills to meet the demands of the modern world. He advised students to equip themselves with relevant skills to adapt to the changing economy and secure stable career opportunities.
Another chief guest, Mr. P. Somasiva Reddy, stated that in today’s competitive world, both the Central and State Governments are providing numerous opportunities for employment and career development. He encouraged students to continuously improve their skills, stressing that with dedication and hard work, anything is achievable. He also addressed and clarified several questions raised by the students regarding career opportunities and skill development.
Speaking on the occasion, College Chairman Dr. G. Ramakrishna Reddy said that the college is committed to preparing students for the competitive job market by providing opportunities to develop essential personal and professional skills. He stated that, in addition to degree programmes, the college offers Skill Development Certificate Courses through both online and offline modes. He encouraged students to take inspiration from such programmes and develop leadership qualities and employability skills.
College Dean Mrs. A. S. Pragathi Reddy advised students to focus on learning Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital life skills, and green skills, which are becoming increasingly important in the changing world. She encouraged them to make use of these opportunities to build successful careers and improve their lives.
College Principal Mr. K. B. V. Subbaiah explained the significance of World Youth Skills Day. He stated that the observance was approved in 2014 and has been celebrated every year on 15 July since 2015. He urged students to understand the importance of the day and gain inspiration from such awareness programmes.
During the event, the college management felicitated the chief guests, Mr. V. Srikanth Reddy, District Skill Development Officer, and Mr. P. Somasiva Reddy, District Employment and Skill Development Officer, by presenting them with shawls and mementoes in recognition of their valuable contributions.
The programme was attended by Dr. U. V. S. Kumar, Head of the Computer Science Department; Dr. Lalitha Saraswathi, Head of the Telugu Department; Ms. P. Himabindu, Head of the English Department; Dr. D. Pullaiah, Head of the Commerce Department; Mr. Murali Mohan, Head of the Botany Department; faculty members Vijay Kanth, Satyanarayana, Mastan, Shekhar, and Balachandrudu, members of the press, and a large number of students, making the programme a grand success.
The event concluded with the National Anthem.
