Awareness Seminars on Self-Employment for Degree Girl Students

As part of the celebrations of International Women’s Day, an awareness seminar was organized on Wednesday for students at Sri Ramakrishna Degree College, Nandyal. The seminar was conducted by the Women’s Empowerment Cell of the college with the objective of creating awareness among girl students about self-employment opportunities.

The seminar was attended by Mrs. P. Manasa Ranjitha, Proprietor of Beautician and Spa Center, Nandyal, as the Chief Guest. Also present were A.S. Pragathi, Dean of Student Affairs; Dr. Lalitha Saraswathi; Lakshmi Durga; Mrs. Sushma; and a large number of students.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Lalitha Saraswathi stated that in the present era, every young woman aspires to look beautiful and maintain a good appearance. She noted that many girls are keen to learn beauty and grooming techniques and emphasized that such skills can also become a means of self-employment, enabling women to become financially independent and stand on their own feet.

Addressing the students, Mrs. P. Manasa Ranjitha remarked that beauty and self-care are important aspects of women’s confidence and personality. She explained that beautification is a profession like any other and can provide substantial income opportunities. In today’s society, people constantly seek ways to enhance their appearance, but she encouraged students to utilize traditional home remedies and kitchen ingredients for beauty care instead of relying solely on commercial products.

She informed the students that skills such as hairstyling, applying henna, and other beauty-related services can be pursued as professions to achieve self-reliance. Mrs. Manasa Ranjitha shared that she has been in the beauty profession for the past 13 years and initially started her venture with an investment of ₹80,000. Since then, she has successfully expanded her business.

She further stated that she provides training in Maggam work, One Gram Gold jewelry making, and designing ornaments using pearls and beads, thereby creating self-employment opportunities for many women. She has also initiated free training programs for girls in fields of their interest, which she believes will greatly benefit their future. She emphasized that women can earn an income while working from home and encouraged students to explore such possibilities. She also answered various questions raised by the students.

A.S. Pragathi, Dean of Student Affairs, observed that people today make considerable efforts to enhance their appearance and that such interests can also pave the way for career opportunities. She suggested that natural beauty practices using home remedies and kitchen ingredients can be effective alternatives to chemical-based products. She emphasized that women can continue pursuing professions and remain financially independent even after marriage.

She further stated that inviting successful entrepreneurs to interact with students is intended to inspire them to develop confidence, start their own ventures, and establish themselves as independent professionals.

At the conclusion of the seminar, Mrs. P. Manasa Ranjitha was felicitated with a shawl and memento by A.S. Pragathi, Dr. Lalitha Saraswathi, Lakshmi Durga, Sushma, and the students in recognition of her valuable contribution.

Awareness Seminar on Women Empowerment

As part of the celebrations marking International Women’s Day, an awareness seminar was organized on Tuesday for students at Sri Ramakrishna Degree College, Nandyal. The seminar was conducted by the Women Empowerment Cell of the college with the objective of promoting self-employment opportunities and empowering young women.

The seminar was attended by Ms. Macha Vasundhara, Founder of Aadarana Jute Bags, along with A.S. Pragathi, Dean of Student Affairs, and Dr. Lalitha Saraswathi as chief guests. A large number of students participated in the program.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Lalitha Saraswathi stated that the primary objective of the seminar was to foster personality development among women, create awareness about employment opportunities, and instill confidence in them. She mentioned that such initiatives are being organized with the support of Prof. G. Ramakrishna Reddy, Chairman of the College, and A.S. Pragathi. She further informed that a series of programs are being conducted in connection with International Women’s Day celebrations on March 8, with self-employment being one of the key themes.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Macha Vasundhara shared her entrepreneurial journey. She explained that life does not always go according to one’s plans. Along with four others, she started a business manufacturing jute bags and jute boxes with an initial investment of ₹10,000. Although they encountered several challenges in the beginning, the support of her husband and family members enabled them to overcome difficulties. Today, the enterprise has grown significantly and generates an annual turnover of approximately ₹45 lakhs. She mentioned that the business has successfully completed seven years of operation.

She emphasized that whatever work one chooses to do, it should be pursued with commitment, consistency, and dedication. Even a small profession can provide livelihood and dignity. She highlighted the importance of time management, values, and systematic planning, stating that work carried out according to a well-defined plan ultimately leads to success.

Vasundhara pointed out that unlike earlier generations, today’s students have abundant opportunities to acquire knowledge and information. She encouraged students to remain informed about employment trends and business opportunities, and to stay resilient even in adverse situations. She advised them not to lose confidence in the face of setbacks and stressed that creating employment opportunities for others is a matter of pride. She urged students to make the best use of available resources to support and uplift others.

She also remarked that education is meaningless if it does not teach respect for teachers and mentors.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. G. Ramakrishna Reddy, Chairman of the College, stated that the college is organizing a week-long series of activities on various themes related to self-employment and women empowerment as part of International Women’s Day celebrations. He appreciated the valuable insights shared by Ms. Vasundhara.

A.S. Pragathi, Dean of Student Affairs, observed that no profession should be looked down upon if it benefits society and provides livelihood opportunities to others. She encouraged students to draw inspiration from successful entrepreneurs invited to the college and strive to attain greater heights in their own careers. She emphasized that age is never a barrier to pursuing one’s ambitions and that students should learn how to establish, manage, and expand a business effectively in order to become role models for others.

National-Level “Tech Fest” Inaugurated Grandly at Sri Ramakrishna Degree College

A prestigious national-level “Tech Fest” was inaugurated with great enthusiasm on Monday at Sri Ramakrishna Degree College, Nandyal. The event was organized to provide a platform for students to showcase their hidden creativity and enhance their technological knowledge and skills.

The program was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof. V. Venkata Basava Rao, who lit the ceremonial lamp. The audience was delighted by a welcome dance performance presented by the girl students. The dignitaries seated on the dais included Prof. G. Ramakrishna Reddy, Chairman of the College, K.B.V. Subbaiah, Principal, G. Hemanth Reddy, Director, and faculty members M. Vijay Kanth and G. Mohan Muralidhar.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. G. Ramakrishna Reddy (Chairman) emphasized that students should not limit themselves to textbook knowledge alone but should acquire new skills that align with the rapidly changing world. G. Hemanth Reddy (Director) highlighted the significance of the Science Fest by recalling the discovery of the Raman Effect by Sir C. V. Raman on February 28. He encouraged students to draw inspiration from this Nobel Prize-winning discovery and demonstrate their own talents and innovative abilities.

In his keynote address, Prof. V. Venkata Basava Rao, the Chief Guest, praised the students for being part of one of the finest educational institutions in the Nandyal district. He particularly emphasized the following points:

He advised students to regard failure as the first step toward success and encouraged them to achieve great heights through discipline, perseverance, and respect for teachers and elders. He motivated the students by expressing his hope that one day they would return to the same institution as distinguished chief guests.

Later, the guests answered several questions raised by the students. They motivated the participants by stating that “Success comes when you pursue the work you love with passion, and challenges should be faced with courage and determination.”
