Sri Ramakrishna Degree College (Autonomous), Nandyal, has been honored with the prestigious “Platinum Sustainable Campus Partner Award” in recognition of its exemplary efforts in environmental conservation and the implementation of sustainable development initiatives. A felicitation programme was organized at the college on Thursday to celebrate this significant achievement.

As part of the Bharat Environment Programme, the college conducted Earth Week celebrations from April 22 to April 29, undertaking a series of eco-friendly activities. NSS volunteers actively participated in tree plantation drives, administered sustainability pledges, maintained cleanliness across the college campus, and organized cleanliness campaigns at children’s parks and public spaces. Reports and photographs documenting these activities were submitted periodically to the organizing agency.

A total of 534 educational institutions from across the country participated in the programme. Sri Ramakrishna Degree College distinguished itself by securing the 19th position at the national level, which is considered a remarkable accomplishment.

In recognition of this achievement, representatives of Research Heights presented the Platinum Sustainable Campus Partner Award to the college during a grand ceremony held on June 1 at the Global Peace Auditorium, Hyderabad.

The organizers acknowledged the valuable encouragement and support extended by Prof. G. Ramakrishna Reddy, Chairman; Dr. G. Hemanth Reddy, Director; Dr. K.B.V. Subbaiah, Principal; and Ms. Pragathi Reddy, Dean of Academics, which greatly contributed to the successful implementation of the environmental initiatives.

The programmes were coordinated under the guidance of NSS Programme Officers Ms. M. Sravani Kumari and Mr. T. Madhava Reddy, with enthusiastic participation from NSS volunteers, ensuring the success of the activities.

On this occasion, the college management, Principal Dr. K.B.V. Subbaiah, faculty members, and students congratulated the award recipients and expressed pride in the institution’s continued commitment to environmental sustainability and green campus development.

The award was presented during the Sustainable Campus Summit Awards–2026, organized by the Research Foundation, Hyderabad, at a grand ceremony held in New Delhi. The institution was honored for its outstanding efforts in developing and maintaining a sustainable and eco-friendly campus environment.

On behalf of Sri Ramakrishna Degree College, Chairman Prof. G. Ramakrishna Reddy, Director Dr. G. Hemanth Reddy, and NSS Programme Officer Mr. M. Sravan Kumar received the award amidst applause from dignitaries, academicians, and environmental experts.

The recognition was conferred in appreciation of the college’s consistent initiatives in promoting green campus development, environmental conservation activities, cleanliness drives, tree plantation programmes, waste management practices, and awareness campaigns on sustainable living. The institution has been actively involving students, faculty members, NSS volunteers, and staff in various eco-friendly initiatives aimed at fostering environmental responsibility among the younger generation.

Expressing happiness over the achievement, the college management stated that the award serves as a testament to the institution’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. They reaffirmed their resolve to continue implementing innovative green practices and expanding sustainable development initiatives in the years ahead.

The management further noted that this prestigious recognition has brought immense pride to the entire SRKDC fraternity and stands as a significant milestone in the institution’s journey toward becoming a model sustainable campus.
