International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Observed At Sri RamaKrishna Degree College

Sri Ramakrishna Degree College organized a special awareness programme to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, with the objective of educating students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of leading a drug-free life.

The programme was graced by Ms. Manda Javali Alphons, IPS, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the students, she explained the adverse impact of drug abuse on individuals, families, and society. She urged the youth to stay away from narcotic substances and develop into responsible and socially conscious citizens.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Pragathi, Dean (Academics), emphasized the importance of awareness and education in preventing drug abuse. She encouraged students to cultivate good habits and adopt a healthy lifestyle.

The Principal of the college, Mr. K.B.V. Subbaiah, stated that drug addiction can destroy the future of students and advised them to stay away from such harmful practices while focusing on their education. He also called upon everyone to take collective responsibility in building a drug-free society.

Faculty member Mr. Venkata Rao remarked that awareness programmes of this nature are highly beneficial for students, as they help them understand the dangers of drug abuse and make informed life choices.

The programme was attended by Mrs. Sravani Kumari, T. Madhava Reddy (NSS Programme Officer), faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students.

The event concluded successfully with the singing of the National Anthem. On the occasion, the students pledged to remain free from drug abuse and to actively spread awareness in society about the harmful effects of narcotic substances.

International Yoga Day Celebrated Grandly at Sri Ramakrishna Degree College (Autonomous), Nandyal

International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Sri Ramakrishna Degree College (Autonomous), Nandyal, under the joint auspices of Kreeda Bharathi, Nandyal and Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), Nandyal. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, NSS and NCC volunteers.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the college, Dr. G. Ramakrishna Reddy, stated that yoga is a priceless gift India has given to the world. He emphasized that regular practice of yoga enhances both physical and mental well-being and encouraged every student to make yoga an integral part of their daily life.

The Director of the college, Dr. G. Hemanth Reddy, highlighted that yoga helps reduce stress, improves concentration, and plays a vital role in promoting a healthy lifestyle among students.

The Principal, Dr. K.B.V. Subbaiah, explained the significance of International Yoga Day. He noted that yoga strengthens physical fitness, promotes mental peace, and fosters emotional balance. He also appreciated everyone who contributed to the successful organization of the event.

During the programme, Mrs. Lalitha Saraswathi, Yoga Instructor, demonstrated various yoga asanas and pranayama techniques to the students and faculty members while explaining their importance and health benefits. She emphasized that yoga improves physical health, mental peace, concentration, and self-confidence. Under her guidance, the participants enthusiastically performed the yoga practices and gained a deeper understanding of the benefits of yoga.

4th National Floor Curling Championship: Andhra Pradesh Clinches Overall Championship

The 4th National Floor Curling Championship, held over the past three days in Nandyal, concluded on Monday with great enthusiasm. The national-level tournament was organized at the Sri Ramakrishna PG College grounds from June 6 to June 8. The Andhra Pradesh team delivered an outstanding performance and emerged as the Overall Champions, securing first place.

Teams from various states competed fiercely throughout the tournament. The final standings were as follows:

  • Overall Champions (1st Place): Andhra Pradesh 🥇
  • 2nd Place: Maharashtra 🥈
  • 3rd Place: Puducherry 🥉

Selection for Beijing International Championship

A total of 20 boys and girls who showcased exceptional talent and emerged as winners in the national championship have been selected to represent India at the prestigious International Floor Curling Championship to be held in Beijing, China.

The closing ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Sri Ramakrishna Reddy, Chairman of Sri Ramakrishna Educational Institutions; Dr. Dastagiri Reddy, Chairman of Sri Guru Raghavendra Olympiad Coaching Centre; and prominent leader Sri Chalam Babu.

Also present were Fazil Rehman, In-charge President of the Curling Federation of India (CFI); Yakub, General Secretary; Smt. Venkateswaramma, President of the State Floor Curling Association; representatives P.K. Reddy, Nagaraju, Konda Reddy, and Sushanth; S. Sudhakar, Head of Shanthiniketan Educational Institutions; Nimmakayala Sudhakar, BJP District Secretary; and several other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guests said that successfully hosting a national-level championship in Nandyal was a matter of great pride. They emphasized that sports help instill discipline, focus, and determination among youth. They congratulated the winners and wished the athletes selected for the Beijing international championship success in bringing glory to both the state and the nation.

4th National Floor Curling Championship Inaugurated Grandly

The 4th National Floor Curling Championship, organized by the Andhra Pradesh Curling Association, was inaugurated in a grand manner at the Sri Ramakrishna Degree & PG College campus in Nandyal. The inaugural ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests, including Mr. Fayaz, son of the State Minister; Dr. G. Ramakrishna Reddy, Chairman of Sri Ramakrishna Degree & PG College; Mr. Vedurula Ramachandra Rao; Dr. G. Abhiruchi Madhu, Advocate; Mr. Surendra Reddy, BJP District President and State Joint Secretary of Kreeda Bharathi; Ms. G. The chief guests officially inaugurated the championship by cutting the ribbon. They later received the athletes’ parade, interacted with participants from different states, and ceremonially launched the tournament by playing the opening floor curling match.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Fayaz, a young leader of the Telugu Desam Party, said that sports play a vital role in developing both the physical and mental strength of youth. He noted that athletes from different states competing on one platform symbolize “Unity in Diversity.” He expressed happiness that Nandyal is hosting a national-level Floor Curling Championship and stated that such events provide young athletes with an excellent opportunity to showcase their talent. He encouraged all participants to compete with true sportsmanship and bring glory to their state and the nation. He also assured his continued support for the development of sports. The other dignitaries emphasized that sports promote discipline, leadership, self-confidence, and national integration among young people. They also highlighted that sports provide rural youth with opportunities to excel at national and international levels. Promoting innovative sports like Floor Curling, they said, would help India gain greater recognition in the global sporting arena.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rahim, Acting President of the Curling Federation of India, and Mr. Mohammad Akeeb, Secretary of the Federation, said that the sport of curling is growing rapidly across the country. They described the championship being held in Andhra Pradesh as an excellent platform for athletes to demonstrate their abilities.

World Environment Day Celebrated Grandly at Sri Ramakrishna Degree College (Autonomous)

On the occasion of World Environment Day, Sri Ramakrishna Degree College (Autonomous), Nandyal, organized a grand tree plantation programme on Friday. The event was conducted under the aegis of the NSS and NCC units of the college. As part of the programme, several saplings were planted across the college campus to promote environmental conservation and create awareness about the importance of protecting nature.

Sri Ramakrishna Degree College (Autonomous), Nandyal, has been honored with the prestigious “Platinum Sustainable Campus Partner Award” in recognition of its exemplary efforts in environmental conservation and the implementation of sustainable development initiatives.
