Nandyal: On 16 September 2026, the “Bharosa for the Future – Yuvatha Bharosa” programme was grandly organized at Sri Ramakrishna Degree College, Nandyal.

The programme was attended by the chief guest, Dr. Byreddy Shabari, Member of Parliament from Nandyal, along with College Chairman Prof. G. Ramakrishna Reddy, Director Dr. G. Hemanth Reddy, Student Affairs Officer A.S. Pragathi, Vishwanath Reddy, faculty members and students.

The programme commenced traditionally with the lighting of the lamp.

Addressing the gathering, College Chairman Prof. G. Ramakrishna Reddy stated that youth are the foundation of the nation and the strength of its future. He encouraged first-year students to make effective use of the opportunities provided through initiatives such as Yuvatha Bharosa. He highlighted the importance of education, discipline and skill development in achieving success. He urged students to remain focused on their goals, contribute positively to society and develop self-confidence for a bright future. He also encouraged them to work hard and bring pride to their parents and the college. He expressed his gratitude to Dr. Byreddy Shabari for conducting the programme at the college.

College Director Dr. G. Hemanth Reddy stated that youth play a vital role in the development of the nation. He described Sri Ramakrishna Degree College as an institution that provides quality education along with valuable opportunities for students. He emphasized that India has one of the largest youth populations in the world and that the future of the nation lies in the hands of its youth. He advised students to use their knowledge, education and skills responsibly for the development of the country and to make the best use of the opportunities provided by the government and the college.

Chief Guest Dr. Byreddy Shabari, Member of Parliament from Nandyal, spoke about the development of Andhra Pradesh, investment opportunities and employment generation. She stated that various initiatives are being undertaken to provide a better future for the youth.

She noted that the Rayalaseema region, once known for drought, migration and farmers’ hardships, is now progressing through development and employment opportunities. She stated that efforts are being made to attract investments to the state and create more employment opportunities for young people.

Dr. Shabari encouraged the youth to make use of every opportunity available to them and contribute to the development of the nation. She interacted with the students and answered their questions, assuring them of continued support through various government opportunities and initiatives.

On the occasion, Dr. Byreddy Shabari felicitated Nyasa Pavan, founder of the Meeto App. She encouraged young people not only to seek employment but also to become entrepreneurs who create employment opportunities for others.

She stated that the youth of Andhra Pradesh possess immense potential and can serve as a driving force for development in areas such as education, technology, industry, sports and innovation. She highlighted the emerging opportunities for investment, employment and development in Andhra Pradesh.

She advised students to study with dedication, gain practical knowledge and develop skills that would help them build successful careers. She explained how technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing, drones and modern agricultural technologies are transforming various sectors and creating new employment opportunities.

Concluding her address, Dr. Shabari stated that the Yuvatha Bharosa initiative is aimed at supporting the future of young people. She encouraged students to express their concerns and opinions confidently and make effective use of the opportunities and support available for their growth and success.

During the programme, students interacted with Dr. Byreddy Shabari and raised their doubts and questions. She responded spontaneously to their queries and provided them with useful information and guidance.

Finally, the students felicitated Dr. Byreddy Shabari with respect and gratitude. The programme concluded successfully with the active participation of dignitaries, faculty members and students.

Eco-Friendly Ganesha Idols Made by Students Become the Special Attraction

Nandyal: Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations were grandly organized at the Sri Swami Vivekananda Auditorium of Sri Ramakrishna Degree College (Autonomous), Nandyal, under the auspices of the Andhra Pradesh Ganesh Utsav Samithi, Nandyal District, and Nandyal City Ganesh Utsav Samithi, in association with Sri Ramakrishna Degree College.

The celebrations were conducted in a devotional and enthusiastic atmosphere. The eco-friendly Ganesha idols personally prepared by the students of Sri Ramakrishna Degree College became the special attraction of the event.

The puja ceremony was attended by members of the Nandyal District Ganesh Utsav Committee, including District President Sri Srinivasulu, Secretary Sri Rajasekhar Reddy, and members Sri Ramanjaneyulu, Sri Shankar and Sri Satyanarayana. Vishva Hindu Parishad South Andhra President Sri Erram Vishnuvardhan Reddy, Sri Chilukuri Srinivasulu, Smt. Suhasini, and other dignitaries also participated in the puja and offered prayers to Lord Ganesha with devotion.

Speaking on the occasion, Sri Ramakrishna Degree College Chairman Sri G. Ramakrishna Reddy said that the college students had worked for nearly 15 days to creatively prepare eco-friendly Ganesha idols using natural and environmentally safe materials. Nearly 50 small and large clay Ganesha idols prepared by the students were placed for worship.

He stated that it is the responsibility of the college to identify and encourage the creative skills of students and create awareness among them about issues that benefit society and the environment. He appreciated the students for their hard work and commitment in preparing the Ganesha idols using natural clay and thereby demonstrating their social and environmental responsibility.

The Chairman congratulated Dean of Academics Smt. Pragathi, Dr. Lalitha Saraswathi, and Smt. Sravani Kumari for encouraging and motivating the students in this initiative.

The students themselves performed the puja and participated in the rituals with devotion, accompanied by devotional songs.

Andhra Pradesh Ganesh Utsav Committee District President Sri Srinivasulu appreciated the students for their efforts in preparing the attractive Ganesha idols. He expressed his happiness over the students’ participation in a socially beneficial initiative and stated that Indian festivals reflect the country’s spiritual and cultural values. He conveyed his best wishes to all the students on the occasion.

The programme also conveyed a strong message about environmental protection and encouraged students to celebrate traditional festivals in an eco-friendly manner.

Students of Aim for Seva, Nandyal, presented cultural programmes, including a Kolattam dance, which attracted everyone. College students also performed dances to devotional songs, adding to the festive spirit.

With the enthusiastic chanting of “Ganapati Bappa Morya!”, the students expressed their joy and devotion.

The programme concluded with the distribution of prasadam.

The Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations stood as an inspiring example with the message:

“Let us worship Lord Ganesha with devotion… and protect nature with responsibility.”

Nandyal | September 11, 2026: World First Aid Day was celebrated at Sri Ramakrishna Degree College (Autonomous), Nandyal, with the aim of creating awareness among students about the importance of first aid and basic life-saving skills.

The programme was attended by Dean of Student Affairs A. S. Pragathi, Chief Guest Dr. C. Madhu Priyathi, MBBS, MD, Dermatologist, NSS Officer Smt. Sravani Kumari, Assistant Professor and Placement Officer Mr. Inthiyaz Ahmed, faculty members, and students.

Dr. C. Madhu Priyathi explained the importance of first aid during emergencies such as injuries, bleeding, burns, choking, fractures, and loss of consciousness. She emphasized the importance of seeking professional medical help and learning basic first-aid and CPR skills.

NSS Officer Smt. Sravani Kumari highlighted the three key principles of first aid—Preserving Life, Preventing Further Harm, and Promoting Recovery. She encouraged students to help people during emergencies instead of merely recording incidents on their phones.

Dean of Student Affairs A. S. Pragathi emphasized that practical life skills, along with education, are essential for students to confidently face real-life situations. She encouraged students to actively participate in such awareness and training programmes.

The college management felicitated Dr. C. Madhu Priyathi for her valuable contribution to the programme. Faculty members and students actively participated in the event, which concluded with the National Anthem.

An awareness programme was organized on the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day at Sri Ramakrishna Degree College (Autonomous), Nandyal. The programme was jointly organized by all the departments of the college with the objective of creating awareness among students about mental and physical well-being and promoting suicide prevention.

Dr. Arifa Bano, a prominent mental health professional from Nandyal, attended the programme as the Chief Guest and delivered an insightful address. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bano emphasized that timely support, sharing problems with trusted people, and overcoming misconceptions about mental health can play an important role in suicide prevention. She advised students not to face their difficulties alone and encouraged them to seek support from parents, friends, teachers, and other trusted adults.

She stated that problems are not permanent and that emotional difficulties can occur to anyone. Students should have the courage to speak openly about their concerns so that they can receive proper guidance and develop confidence to face challenges. She encouraged students to develop a positive and resilient attitude towards life.

College Chairman Dr. G. Ramakrishna Reddy said that students should move forward with self-confidence, determination, and positive thinking. He emphasized the importance of moral values, mental development, education, and strong character in building a meaningful life. He advised students not to consider self-harm as a solution to temporary difficulties and encouraged them to face challenges with courage.

College Principal Sri K. V. B. Subbayya stated that the awareness programme was organized to educate students about suicide prevention and to encourage them to seek help whenever they experience emotional difficulties. He urged students to avoid negative thoughts and make use of the support systems available to them.

Dean of Academics, Smt. Pragathi Madam, said that the world offers many opportunities and different ways to overcome difficulties. She encouraged students to make thoughtful choices, seek guidance, and move forward positively. She also highlighted the importance of understanding the impact that a person’s struggles can have on their family and loved ones.

During the programme, the college management felicitated the Chief Guest, Dr. Arifa Bano, with a shawl and memento as a mark of respect and appreciation.

The college management, faculty members, and hundreds of students actively participated in the programme and contributed to its success. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.

Awareness on Skill Development Through PowerPoint Presentation

Discipline is extremely important for students to achieve their higher goals, said Dr. G. Ramakrishna Reddy, Chairman of Sri Ramakrishna Educational Institutions.

An orientation programme for first-year degree students was organized in a grand manner on Wednesday at Sri Ramakrishna Degree Autonomous College in Nandyal. The programme commenced with Saraswati Puja, following which Dr. G. Ramakrishna Reddy attended the event as the Chief Guest and addressed the students.

He said that the college had been granted Autonomous status, along with UGC recognition and NAAC ‘A’ Grade accreditation, and expressed his pride that the institution is among the leading colleges in the state in providing quality education and promoting skill development.

He advised students to make proper use of the state-of-the-art facilities available at the college throughout their three-year academic journey. He encouraged them to develop into individuals with strong character and personality and to shape themselves into responsible citizens who can contribute meaningfully to their families, society and the nation.

During the programme, students were given an overview through a PowerPoint presentation of the various facilities available at the college, including the library, spacious classrooms, digital boards, indoor stadium, rifle shooting facility, computer laboratories, NCC and NSS.

Following the presentation, Dr. Ramakrishna Reddy clarified several doubts and queries raised by the students.

Focus on Bringing Out Students’ Skills

College Principal K.B.V. Subbaiah welcomed the new students and said that the college continuously strives to identify and develop the talents and skills hidden within every student.

Director P. Pragathi said that encouraging every student to pursue their studies responsibly is one of their primary responsibilities. She advised students to maintain discipline and assured them that the college would extend all possible support and cooperation to help them succeed.

Later, the faculty members introduced themselves to the newly admitted students.

The programme was attended by faculty members including Dr. U.V.S. Kumar, Sampath Kumar, Dr. Pullaiah, Dr. Lalitha Saraswathi, Muralidhar, Andrews, Mrs. Himabindu, Maddileti, Shivaraju, Satyanarayana Reddy, Mastan and Vijay Kanth, along with a large number of students.

Literacy is the Foundation for Social Progress and Peace

An awareness programme was grandly organized on the occasion of International Literacy Day at Sri Ramakrishna Degree Autonomous College on Tuesday, under the auspices of the Departments of Commerce and Telugu. As every year, International Literacy Day is being observed across the world to highlight the importance of literacy and education.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. G. Ramakrishna Reddy, Chairman of the educational institutions, who attended the event as the Chief Guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ramakrishna Reddy said that literacy is not merely the ability to read and write, but is a basic human right of every individual. It provides people with dignity, equality and better opportunities. He called upon youth, governments, voluntary organizations, teachers and citizens to work together as partners in building an illiteracy-free society.

He observed that in the past, an illiterate person was often viewed as an oddity, whereas today, there are many people in society who may be literate but lack adequate knowledge and awareness. Therefore, he emphasized the need to come out of the darkness of ignorance and develop knowledge through education.

He encouraged the students to share the education they have received with at least ten people in their respective villages or communities and help spread literacy. He stated that true literacy is not merely learning letters, but acquiring knowledge that contributes to the welfare of society.

He further noted that although the world has made remarkable progress in literacy rates over the past six decades, significant challenges still remain. According to him, around 739 million young people and adults worldwide still lack basic literacy skills.

College Director P. Pragathi Madam said that it is the responsibility of everyone in society to encourage and support people to pursue education.

Similarly, College Principal K.B.V. Subbaiah highlighted the importance of literacy in the development of individuals, societies and nations. He stated that UNESCO declared September 8 as International Literacy Day in 1966, and that the day has been observed annually since 1967.

The B.Sc. and B.Com. students spoke about the significance of International Literacy Day and its 60th anniversary. They explained that the official theme announced by UNESCO for this year is “Literacy for People, the Planet and Prosperity.” The theme emphasizes the crucial role of literacy in promoting environmental protection, a peaceful society and economic growth. The students explained the theme and its significance very effectively.

The programme was made successful with the participation of Dr. Lalitha Saraswathi, Head of the Department of Telugu; Dr. Pullaiah, Head of the Department of Commerce; members of the Computer faculty; and a large number of students.

Sri Ramakrishna Degree College in Nandyal celebrated Teachers’ Day in a grand manner on Saturday, with the active participation of the college management, faculty members, and students.

College Principal Dr. K.V.V. Subbaiah and Dean of Student Affairs Mrs. A.S. Pragathi attended the celebrations as the chief guests. A large number of faculty members and students participated in the programme.

The celebrations commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and offering floral tributes to the portrait of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India and recipient of the Bharat Ratna.

On the occasion, students delivered speeches highlighting the significance of celebrating the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan as Teachers’ Day. They praised teachers as the architects who shape students’ lives, guide them towards a bright future, and bring out their hidden talents and potential.

Speaking on the occasion, Senior Faculty Member Mr. Pothula Ratna Reddy said:

“The responsibility of teachers does not end with teaching textbooks within the four walls of a classroom. True education lies in developing the moral courage to face the challenges of everyday life, cultivating human values, and showing respect towards elders. Every student should develop a noble personality that seeks the welfare of society rather than living solely for personal gain, and should never intend harm to others. A teacher alone possesses the power to dispel the darkness of ignorance and kindle the light of knowledge. A society that respects and values teachers will always occupy a higher position. Students should always respect the teachers who have contributed to their growth and success.”

Addressing the gathering, College Principal Dr. K.V.V. Subbaiah said:

“Although Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan rose to the highest positions in the country as a scholar, Vice President, and President of India, he took immense pride in identifying himself primarily as a teacher. His contributions to the field of education are unforgettable. No matter how high students rise in life after completing their education, or what prestigious positions they may hold in society, they should never forget their first teachers who imparted knowledge and values to them. Only then will their education attain its true purpose.”

Dean of Student Affairs Mrs. A.S. Pragathi said:

“The role of teachers in personality development and in shaping the future of an individual is invaluable. The true significance of the discipline and values taught by teachers becomes fully evident when students move beyond their student life and step from the college campus into the wider world. When our college alumni return to the institution after achieving success and attaining respected positions in society, it is the responsibility of the present students to look up to them as role models and extend them due respect.

“Furthermore, such platforms should not be limited merely to speeches by faculty members. They should also become platforms where students can fearlessly express their independent thoughts and creativity. The true educational process is completed only when students take initiative and confidently share their ideas and opinions.”

At the conclusion of the programme, the college management and students jointly felicitated all the faculty members by presenting them with shawls and floral garlands as a mark of respect and appreciation.

The celebrations concluded successfully with the singing of the National Anthem.
