As part of the celebrations of International Women’s Day, an awareness seminar was organized on Wednesday for students at Sri Ramakrishna Degree College, Nandyal. The seminar was conducted by the Women’s Empowerment Cell of the college with the objective of creating awareness among girl students about self-employment opportunities.

The seminar was attended by Mrs. P. Manasa Ranjitha, Proprietor of Beautician and Spa Center, Nandyal, as the Chief Guest. Also present were A.S. Pragathi, Dean of Student Affairs; Dr. Lalitha Saraswathi; Lakshmi Durga; Mrs. Sushma; and a large number of students.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Lalitha Saraswathi stated that in the present era, every young woman aspires to look beautiful and maintain a good appearance. She noted that many girls are keen to learn beauty and grooming techniques and emphasized that such skills can also become a means of self-employment, enabling women to become financially independent and stand on their own feet.

Addressing the students, Mrs. P. Manasa Ranjitha remarked that beauty and self-care are important aspects of women’s confidence and personality. She explained that beautification is a profession like any other and can provide substantial income opportunities. In today’s society, people constantly seek ways to enhance their appearance, but she encouraged students to utilize traditional home remedies and kitchen ingredients for beauty care instead of relying solely on commercial products.

She informed the students that skills such as hairstyling, applying henna, and other beauty-related services can be pursued as professions to achieve self-reliance. Mrs. Manasa Ranjitha shared that she has been in the beauty profession for the past 13 years and initially started her venture with an investment of ₹80,000. Since then, she has successfully expanded her business.

She further stated that she provides training in Maggam work, One Gram Gold jewelry making, and designing ornaments using pearls and beads, thereby creating self-employment opportunities for many women. She has also initiated free training programs for girls in fields of their interest, which she believes will greatly benefit their future. She emphasized that women can earn an income while working from home and encouraged students to explore such possibilities. She also answered various questions raised by the students.

A.S. Pragathi, Dean of Student Affairs, observed that people today make considerable efforts to enhance their appearance and that such interests can also pave the way for career opportunities. She suggested that natural beauty practices using home remedies and kitchen ingredients can be effective alternatives to chemical-based products. She emphasized that women can continue pursuing professions and remain financially independent even after marriage.

She further stated that inviting successful entrepreneurs to interact with students is intended to inspire them to develop confidence, start their own ventures, and establish themselves as independent professionals.

At the conclusion of the seminar, Mrs. P. Manasa Ranjitha was felicitated with a shawl and memento by A.S. Pragathi, Dr. Lalitha Saraswathi, Lakshmi Durga, Sushma, and the students in recognition of her valuable contribution.

The program was attended by Mrs. Saritha, Mrs. Venkateswari, faculty members, and students, who actively participated and contributed to the grand success of the event.
